Proximity to train station, Convenient drop-off area for luggage, Charming historical building ambiance
The absence of an elevator made lugging bags cumbersome!!! Noise from the busy street and inconsistent water pressure were bothersome. A few updates to the decor could enhance the overall charm and comfort!!!

stayed at this so-called guest house expecting some sort of pampering but was met with disturbingly loud street noise and unexpected hairs scattered throughout the room. You'd think for the price, I would at least warrant a welcoming gift or a complimentary upgrade, but I guess that’s asking too much. almost left a good review, but, I just couldn’t!

Elder York was a lovely spot for our family getaway! Murray, the owner, was kind and even helped us with our bags. The location was perfect-just a short stroll to the Royal Mile. My grandson really enjoyed the spacious common areas.
In my wife’s opinion, the steep stairs were a bit challenging with our family and luggage.

Had an awesome time with friends here! The place is in a great spot, close to a lot of attractions. We played at St Andrews Old Course and visited Bruntsfield. Murray was super helpful and made sure we had a good breakfast to start our days. I recommend trying the local cafes for some good food too!
One downside was the hard bed that made it tough to sleep well.

a decent stay but with notable downsides
Breakfast was quick and very good, with a variety of fresh options each morning. Both Murray and his parents were exceptionally nice, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I appreciated their recommendations for local dining, which added to the authenticity of our experience in the city.
the first flight of stairs lacked handrails, which made it a bit tricky to navigate.
